Traci Johnson joined the Foundation’s staff in February 2022 as director of Grantmaking, Program and Community Engagement. She is a values-driven leader with a demonstrated commitment to uplifting nonprofits and the impact they have on the community and on the lives of the people they serve. Traci is instrumental to the Program department’s efforts to ensure that grantmaking is relevant, responsive and centers the Foundation’s values. She brings valuable experience in advancing racial justice within philanthropy and the ability to use data to drive equity and accountability within systems. At the Foundation, she oversees several special initiatives that improve nonprofits’ ability to address human service needs. She also works on “more than money” programming to support nonprofit leaders and organizations.   

Traci brings more than a decade of experience in management consulting, project and change management, process improvement and development, program design and data analysis. She is passionate about working with organizations and community members to create unconventional solutions to complex community problems and assisting organizations in their capacity building efforts. 

She is a graduate of Carlow University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She earned her Master of Science in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. 

Prior to coming to the Foundation, Traci served for nearly four years as a program officer at POISE Foundation, a community foundation dedicated to empowering the region’s Black community. Before her time at POISE, Traci worked as communications and digital media manager for Denny Civic Solutions.  

Traci is a native Pittsburgher born and raised in the historic Hill District where she currently resides. She also has deep family roots in Ohio and West Virginia. When Traci is not working, she is very active in her local church and an avid reader who loves to travel. You can always find Traci planning her next travel adventure.
