PITTSBURGH, Pa. Nov. 30, 2020 – Today 10 women from across the country who paint in the figurative realist style were named finalists for the $50,000 Bennett Prize, the largest art award ever offered solely to women figurative realist painters, and now in its second round of awards.
The Pittsburgh Foundation to rapidly disburse $1.62 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds
The Pittsburgh Foundation has been named by Allegheny County to oversee efforts to distribute $1.62 million in rapid relief grants to 28 nonprofits in response to the human services needs presented by COVID-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus Relief Fund distributes CARES Act funding to nonprofits in Allegheny County.
Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh announces $456,000 in grants
Projects funded by this joint program of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments include a documentary about Black American women, an artist residency at Guardians of Sound to work with the Hip Hop Orchestra Music Instruction project, a series of cookout events to cultivate Black joy and a three-month visiting playwright fellowship that honors the legacy of August Wilson.

#ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert raises record $1.3 million from public
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 10, 2020 – Nonprofits providing basic needs benefited from record public giving to the #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert online giving event on Aug. 19. Organized by The Pittsburgh Foundation, the event raised a total of $1.85 million for nonprofits in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties that provide food, housing, physical and mental health care, child care and transportation – directly to vulnerable populations.
