PITTSBURGH, Pa., Oct. 28, 2019 – Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh, a joint program of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments, has awarded $388,000 to individual artists and art programs for the initiative’s fall 2019 grant-making cycle. Among the projects funded are an audio book and video series reinterpreting a book by Pittsburgh’s first African American medical doctor, an artist residency at the Pittsburgh Glass Center exploring plasma and neon light in glass, a community healing event honoring a young artist who died after a battle with depression, and a graphic novel about the experiences of growing up as a Black girl.

NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2019 – A forum during the 74th United Nations General Assembly today featured Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto and leaders from Carnegie Mellon University, Chatham University, the University of Pittsburgh and The Pittsburgh Foundation.

A proposed rule change to the SNAP food stamp program would result in 34,000 people in our seven-county region losing food stamp benefits. The changes would affect the most vulnerable: seniors, children, single mothers and people with disabilities. The rule change could also affect free school lunch eligibility. PITTSBURGH, June 12, 2019 – A book of photography of LGBTQ African migrants, a moveable installation of medicinal plants, and contemporary dance productions are among the latest projects to receive funding from Investing in Professional Artists, a shared program of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments.

PITTSBURGH, May 29, 2019 – The Dietrich Foundation Greenville, PA Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation has awarded $34,349 to Greenville area organizations this year.

The Dietrich Foundation Conneaut Lake, PA Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation has awarded $23,213 to Conneaut Lake area organizations this year. This is awards are significant increase from last year’s slate of grants, which totaled about $7,900.
