To ensure that current grantees of The Pittsburgh Foundation may adapt to rapidly changing external conditions, we are offering opportunities to make changes to open grants through 2025.

Grantees may request:

  • A change of grant purpose: Though we have increased the number of multi-year operating support grants awarded each year, some organizations still receive project support, which restricts how they may use grant funds. Changes to federal policy and/or funding may shift organizational priorities or make project execution more challenging.
  • Early second payment for multi-year grants: Typically, the Foundation issues grant payments 12 months apart. However, there may be circumstances under which receiving a future payment sooner would support an organization’s ability to better respond to organizational challenges.
  • No-cost extension:  For a variety of reasons, grantees may need additional time to complete the project and/or activities that their grant was intended to support and/or or more time is needed to complete the interim or final report. A one-time extension of up to 12 months may be appropriate.

If you would like to request a change of purpose or an early second payment, please reach out to your program officer to discuss these options.

If you would like to request a no-cost extension, please contact Jill Ritchie at ritchiej [at] pghfdn.org and a request form will be assigned to you to complete in the online grant portal.
