John B. Jones Memorial Scholarship The John B. Jones Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships for high school seniors and graduates of Mt. Lebanon High School who plan to attend or are attending an accredited 4-year college or university to study photography, journalism, political science, or related fields.

Average Award: $1,000
Award Type: Single Year. Previous recipients are encouraged to re-apply in consecutive years.
Application Period Opens: 1/17/2024
Application Period Closes: 4/1/2024

Criteria

  • Attend Mt. Lebanon High School as a graduating senior or be a past graduate.
  • Pursue a degree or studies in photography, journalism, political science, or related fields. This may be in undergraduate or graduate programs.
  • Have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 if applying as a high school senior or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 otherwise.
  • Plan to attend an accredited 4-year college or university either full or half-time to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate volunteerism.

  • Complete the essay section of the application.
  • Submit one letter of reference from someone who is not related to you.
  • Submit your unofficial transcripts.
