Small and Mighty: TransYOUniting

""

The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Small and Mighty program awarded $15,000 to All About the Youth Community Center in 2021. TransYOUniting is a mutual aid non-profit providing resources to Pittsburgh’s Trans Community.

TransYOUniting is a Black- and Trans-led and serving organization focused on providing emergency housing for LGBTQ+ community members ages 18-30. The organization’s flagship program, Haven House, currently offers short-term housing for vulnerable community members, with stays from one week up to three months. Once housed, each participant completes a needs assessment and participates in life skills workshops in addition to receiving employment search assistance, guided by biweekly meetings with a resident assistant. TransYOUniting ultimately aids participants in searching for longer-term housing and offers ongoing engagement opportunities such as cooking lessons. This grant will support the organization’s efforts to increase the number of participants served to 112 over the next year.

The Small and Mighty grants program focuses on grant seeking for small nonprofits that are meeting basic needs in our region. Since 2016, the program has awarded funding to many nonprofit organizations with budgets of less than $600,000. View a list of all Small and Mighty grantees
