Jeffrey M. Gillen Police Academy Scholarship
The Jeffrey M. Gillen Police Academy Scholarship was created at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County in recognition of the service and commitment of Officer Jeffrey M. Gillen. After graduation Jeff completed the Criminal Justice program offered through Westmoreland County Community College. Jeff served with distinction as a law enforcement officer for the Penn Township Police Department from 1998 to 2007. During his career, Officer Gillen played a vital role in the community, serving as a D.A.R.E. officer at Level Green and Trafford Elementary Schools and as a School Resource Officer at Trafford Middle School. He was also a member of the department’s Tactical Response Team and contributed to numerous drug and narcotics investigations. His dedication earned him multiple honors, including several Official Citations from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Citizen of tthe Year from the Murrysville Star, and Policeman of the Year from the Norwin Elks. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students attending Westmoreland Community College and the police academy, supporting those who aspire to protect and serve their community.
