Phyllis Wheatley Literary Society Scholarship Fund The Phyllis Wheatley Literary Society Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to the highest ranking needy graduating student at East Allegheny High School and/or West Mifflin High school who resides in the Duquesne Area High School.

Average Award: $1,500
Award Type: Single-Year Award
Application Period Closes: 2023-24 applications will be available in January.


  • Attend West Mifflin High School or East Allegheny High School as a graduating senior.
  • Reside in Duquesne, PA. 15110.
  • Have received the least amount of scholarship support.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Plan to attend an accredited vocational or technical trade school OR 2-or 4-year college or university.
  • Preference will be given to African American students.

  • Submit your Student Aid Report (SAR). If you have not already received your SAR, you can do so by applying for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Submit your unofficial transcripts.
