Pittsburgh "Artivist" Jasmine Green chosen for Exposure Tongue River Residency in Wyoming

#UnitedForUkraine campaign to assist in refugee crisis
Because of the massive numbers and the complexity of providing humanitarian aid around a war zone, The Pittsburgh Foundation is partnering with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania on United Way Worldwide’s #UnitedForUkraine campaign, a multinational effort to direct much-needed donations to United Way organizations in the countries welcoming Ukrainians fleeing the horrors of war.
Pittsburgh Government Guidebook opens to public
Residents and others with a stake in the quality of day-to-day operations of city government will have a clearer understanding of its functions, strengths and challenges with the publication of the City Government Guidebook, now online at Pittsburghgovguide.org.
Significant support for Small and Mighty nonprofits
Thirty-six organizations have received grants from The Small and Mighty grants program, a special initiative of The Pittsburgh Foundation for nonprofits with budgets of $600,000 or less. The latest round of grants totaling $569,000 benefit small, community-based organizations, many of which are led by and serve Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC).
Sean Hamill and Tereneh Idia win Sally Kalson Courage in Journalism award
For their reporting, Hammill and Idia were named winners of the 2021 Sally Kalson Courage in Journalism award by a committee of advisors. This is the second time the award has been made and the first time that two journalists will share the honor.
$2.1 million awarded to scientific research based at Pa. universities
The Charles E. Kaufman Foundation has funded innovative and interdisciplinary scientific research at Pennsylvania universities. Studies include understanding interbacterial competition that leads to bacterial colonization and trying to crack the code human embryos use to communicate.
Choreographer Staycee R. Pearl, musician INEZ named Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award honorees
The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation and Opportunity Fund PITTSBURGH, DEC. 13, 2021- The Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Awards honored six artists at tonight’s virtual ceremony, including choreographer and visual artist Staycee R. Pearl, named Established Artist, and multi-faceted musician Danielle “INEZ” Walker, named Emerging Artist.
