Advancing Black Arts awards nearly $288,000 to local artists

Films, musical and spoken word albums, photographs and sculptures are among 20 projects to receive funding from the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh program, which also includes grants for organizations’ operating costs. $287,860 was awarded this cycle.

Carol Brown Awards elevate local artists, honor national luminaries

Fiscal decay accelerates in PA municipalities

According to the new PEL report funded in part by The Pittsburgh Foundation, the southwestern region of the state contains more Act 47 municipalities than any other region in the Commonwealth. These include the city of Aliquippa, Beaver County; Duquesne, Pittsburgh and the boroughs of Braddock and Rankin in Allegheny County; and New Castle, Lawrence County.
