Markets may change but your values remain strong.
The Foundation is here for you.
The world may seem out of control. With volatile markets, rising geopolitical tension and the reverberations of the global pandemic, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. While markets may change, some things never will: your values, your commitment to your loved ones and your community — the big things that define your living legacy. The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County can help you take control of your living legacy and make an impact now on the issues that matter most — while also maximizing your tax advantages.
- Story: Inflation taking the steam out of charitable giving? Don't be so sure. Ace Pittsburgh advisors Adam Yofan and David DelFiandra say why market conditions shouldn't pause your passion for philanthropy.
- Story: Learn why now is an advantageous time to begin your charitable giving legacy with advice from top Pittsburgh advisors Shana Bielich and DelFiandra.
Take control of your living legacy.
By giving appreciated securities instead of cash, you maximize your giving to nonprofits instead of paying capital gains tax. Consider a planned gift that makes the Foundation the beneficiary of some or all of your IRA, so you can give more while reducing tax burdens on your heirs. If you’re 72 or older, you can use your IRA’s required minimum distribution (RMD) to create a designated, field of interest or scholarship fund. If RMDs aren’t required, consider giving from your DAF to support these issues.
